Brand Identity, Art Direction
Visual Identity for Studio Marie, an interior design practice based in Brooklyn, NY.
The aesthetic foundation is grounded in Jamie's work and process, as she seeks to find moments of tension and surprise via her designs, encouraging unexpected juxtapositions that are as thoughtful as they are joy-inducing. We wanted the brand to sit apart from more minimalist architectural identities, and instead be inspired by strong, character-filled vintage pieces and interiors filled with storied history.
There are two custom marks — a primary and a signature. Both are inspired by the tactile and intimate nature of Jamie Perez' practice and both are hand drawn. The more structured, primary mark balances out the brand signature, which is used more organically across materials.
The brand is rich with a sense of materiality, featuring hand scanned papers, scissor furniture cutouts and Albers-esque woven layers turning into something new.
